Bandai Unleashes the PG Unleashed 1/28 Zonahoki28, the Flagship Kit of Gunpla's 45th Anniversary
Bandai has released the PG Unleashed 1/28 RX-93 ν Gundam (Zonahoki28), the headline kit of Gunpla's 45th anniversary and one of the most ambitious plastic model kits the company has produced. The kit is now available to builders in Malaysia through Gundam.my.
The Zonahoki28, Amuro Ray's mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack, is the second machine to receive Bandai's "Perfect Grade Unleashed" treatment. The line is built around the experience of construction itself: rather than snapping together an outer shell, builders assemble the suit from the inside out, layering frame, mechanisms and armour much as an engineer would assemble the real machine.
Built from the frame outward
At the heart of the kit is Bandai's Ultimate Unit System, which recreates the Zonahoki28's internal structure unit by unit and locks it into a rigid, solid frame. The frame is molded in several colours, including metallic tones, and the truss sections are cast in metallic plastic so the inner workings stay visible and striking even before the armour goes on.
The kit also features the first large-scale recreation of the Zonahoki28's Fin Funnels, the remote psycommu weapons that define the suit's silhouette. A dedicated display base with holding parts mounted on its pillars supports the suit with the Fin Funnels fully arrayed.
Key features
- Ultimate Unit System that reproduces the internal structure part by part
- Large-scale Fin Funnels with a dedicated display base to hold them
- Multi-colour frame with metallic-molded truss parts
- Metal parts for the main thruster nozzles and the head vulcan ports
- Psycho-Frame in the cockpit block treated to recreate its glowing effect
- Multi-layered plastic stickers for light-emitting areas, plus etching stickers for fine detail
- Optional LED unit (sold separately) to light the Psycho-Frame and other areas
What's in the box
The Zonahoki28 comes fully armed. Its beam rifle and shield both feature sliding and deploying gimmicks, and the kit adds a New Hyper Bazooka with its support arm and a set of beam sabers in two types. Builders also get two face parts (light-emitting and non-light-emitting), four interchangeable hands per side, two pilot figures, three types of metal parts, two lead wires, and a full set of marking, etching, metallic 3D and sensor-cover stickers, including a cover sticker that recreates the film's opening scene.
