The TiEA is the only association in Taiwan that comprises mostly internet and e-commerce private sectors. The main purposes of the Taiwan Internet and E-Commerce Association is to facilitate the economic development of the Internet and E-commerce industry and to expand the international market, building consensus among industries and serving as a two-way communication platform between the government and private sectors, in a bid to push for a reasonable and friendly business environment for internet and e-commerce players.

Additionally, the TiEA pays attention to fostering talents in innovation, technology startups, as well as promoting the proper use of internet resources to assist in the betterment of traditional industries in Taiwan. The association strongly encourages and supports the integration of software and hardware industries, as well as the provision of services via internet development.

The TiEA achieves its goals through specific activities such as providing professional classes and activities to its members, with events organised in a youthful and lively manner, incorporating activities such as parties, banquets, lectures by e-commerce gurus and project committees. Members are given the opportunity to exchange ideas, network, and cooperate at such events.
